How To Always Fit On Vocation

If your family just decided to go on a cruise or may be spend sometime alone with each other.

Are you worried, about missing your daily workout routine?
Yes???.
Vacations should be fun and fun can be increased if you keep yourself Fighting Fit.

Pre-vacation planning can help you and your family to stick to healthy lifestyle activities and enjoy their time off. Encourage them to research the following while making their plans to have a Fitness Vacation.

Hotels/Motels

~ Is there an exercise area and swimming pool?
~ What additional recreational activities are available? - biking trails, inline skating, parks, walking/jogging paths.
~ Is there a fitness facility (YMCA, etc) nearby that services the hotel guests?
~ What kind of exercise clothes and accessories for planned exercise activities will be needed?

Time for Exercise

Plan at least 30 minutes 3-4 times a week for exercise (some of my routines take even less than 20 minutes). · If driving long distances is part of the vacation - walk briskly for a few minutes at each rest stop. Walk briskly through the terminal during long layovers in your Fitness Vacation.

Workout in a Suitcase

* Rubber resistance bands or tubing for strength training during your Fitness Vacation.
* Jump rope for cardiovascular exercise.
* Pushups, squats/lunges, abdominal exercises can be done without equipment.
* Stretch daily.

Sit down with your family/friends brainstorm for ways to include fitness in their vacations. Do a "practice" vacation workout with them before they leave on their Fitness Vacation.

Write their workout on a log and encourage them to use it. Remember you can always use hotel/motel stuff to work out like box jumps on bed (jump off the floor on bed and jump down again etc) on the Fitness Vacation.

Promote Healthy Living

Too many people sign up for exercise programs only to quit after a few sessions. The most popular excuses include, “I don’t have time,” “I’m too tired,” and “It’s not working for me.”

“Rather than just saying you’ll go to the gym a few days a week and then breaking that promise, we encourage people to set specific goals for themselves and build a defined exercise and diet program to achieve them,” says Kendall Harrell, personal training manager for Life Time Fitness, a national health, fitness and nutrition company.

Harrell says setting a specific goal allows the individual to focus on training and drives motivation to exercise. “It’s a lot easier to make it to the finish line if you have the goal in sight,” adds Harrell.

For this reason, Life Time Fitness produces a series of athletic events, which serve as milestone challenges for members and non-members alike, who are seeking to set and achieve their fitness goals. At any point in time, thousands of amateur athletes from across the country and around the world are in training for these events.

Perhaps the most significant upcoming event is the 2004 Life Time Fitness Triathlon. scheduled to take place Saturday, July 17, 2004, in Minneapolis, Minn. The world-class event will feature same day network television coverage, the sport’s largest prize purse, and an exciting field of the best professional triathletes from around the world. What’s more, some 2,300 amateur athletes participate in the event, competing against each other on the same course as the professionals.

Why? Harrell says it’s all about establishing a destination event that supports your health and fitness goals. “Deciding to compete in an event like the triathlon really challenges you to get in shape. The first step is to register. Once you commit to the event, you know the date and, importantly, the amount of time you have to train until your competition. This can be a key motivator in terms of establishing and sticking to your defined fitness regimen,” says Harrell.

Life Time Fitness Triathlon Training Courses, tailored for beginners and advanced triathletes alike, are offered in the months and weeks leading up to the race. The weekly courses educate people on training schedules, strength and pace training, and the use of training equipment. Athletes also receive instruction in swim, bike, run and transition skills, and benefit from the opportunity to consult with a triathlon coach.

But, if a triathlon seems a bit too daunting, plenty of other similar goals are well within your reach. For example, consider running in your first five or ten kilometer race. Life Time Fitness offers 5k Reindeer Run events in several markets nationwide. The company also sponsors the Life Time Fitness Desert Dash, an annual adventure race in Nevada, for those seeking even more thrilling fitness challenges.

What’s important is less about the specific event, but rather, taking advantage of an event to help you maintain your health, fitness and nutrition program. So, take the initiative to find an athletic event that sounds fun and challenging. Then, set your fitness goals and come up with a plan for achieving them. It’s never too late to pursue a healthy way of life!

Quick Fitness

Why would I want to write about yet another fitness program? There are so many out there. There is no escape from fitness programs whether you watch TV or read a magazine or newspaper.

The reality is that most of us are not happy with our physical state and we are looking for solutions. We are not only looking for solutions, we are actually paying for them. This creates the natural demand for physical fitness programs.

The variety of physical fitness programs does not indicate that one method is better than the other. Like neither is Coke better than Sprite nor Sprite better than Coke. It's a matter of preference and either one of them could quench your thirst. Variety is good. It gives us the freedom to choose.

In spite of having a good supply of effective fitness programs and variety, I think the failure to benefit from such programs lie in us. We are not organized enough or do not have the time to practice them. Because of our work and careers the time investment becomes difficult.

I remember the last time I enrolled in a Martial Arts course. After a few weeks I could not keep up with it because it required 2 hours of classes, 3 days a week. That's only 6 hours a week. Yet I could not find time for Martial Arts from my daily work schedule.

That is the reason why the 2-minute fitness program caught my attention. Anyone can afford to spend 2 minutes. Tony Bahu founder of the 2-minute fitness program provides a full workout composed of minutes only.

If you failed earlier in elaborate fitness programs, the 2-minute fitness program may be the right program for you. As you don't have to invest large amounts of time in the program, you will probably not give up so easily.

Home Fitness : IS Better Than Gym??

Deciding on a home fitness regime is one that will take a bit of planning and dedication. In short…home fitness does get results just as fast but of course depends on effort and knowing what to do.
It would be most beneficial to first go to a gym or see a personal trainer and get proper advice on the advantages of home fitness. With today’s hectic lifestyle, for many of us home fitness is the only solution because of time and money constraints.

If the correct equipment is used and you actually stick to your home fitness program, you can definitely achieve the same results you would from going to the gym. There’s plenty of home fitness equipment around to choose from that would suite any age, agenda or fitness level.

The main thing with home fitness is having the discipline to actually stick at it and push yourself just as if you had a training partner. There are many, many benefits for home fitness, as you can now train as often as you like without the hassles of having to be somewhere at a certain time or worrying about your appearance. Not only that, if you do decide to opt in for a home fitness regime, you can get as much or little variety as you choose as there are just so many options available to you.

A fitness plan is great for someone who has a certain goal or outcome they want to achieve within a certain time frame. If you’re the type of person whom doesn’t stick to your daily fitness routine without an actual fitness plan…then definitely go for it! If you want a fitness plan that actually works, make sure you get the advice of a certified fitness instructor/personal trainer. There is plenty of great information on getting a fitness plan on the net for free.
If you are trying to lose weight through a fitness plan, also consult a dietician to help you fast track your fitness results. A Fitness Plan mixed with healthy eating habits is a win, win situation all around!

Depending on the outcome you want, your fitness training should be tailored to suit. If you are trying to lose weight and ‘tone’ up, your fitness training will need to be more intense than if you were ‘getting over an injury’. To get the best results with your fitness training, it is best to book in with a personal trainer for a one-on-one Fitness Training assessment and work out together what you need to do to get the results you want.

Rushing into your fitness training program without the proper education, support and professional help could also mean injury in the short and long term. If you haven’t undertaken any fitness training for some time, definitely seek a certified fitness trainer’s help. Fitness training should be enjoyable, un-intimidating and results driven all at the same time. It’s never too early or too late to get started with your fitness training program and if you get the right help, you’ll never look back!

What You Should Know About The Fitness Principles

Almost everywhere you go today, you are approached in
some manner about health and physical fitness. The fact
that a large percentage of Americans are considered obese
has helped increase the marketing of diet, physical fitness,
and health products. You’ll be reminded of health and
fitness on TV, in magazines, on the radio, the news, at
work, almost everywhere you go you’ll see something
about physical fitness.

With all this commotion about fitness, have you joined
the team and started your path to total fitness? If not here
is a brief description of the standards of physical fitness and
what you may do about your current fitness level.

Most experts agree there are five basic components of
fitness. They are:
1)Aerobic Endurance- Your level of aerobic endurance
measures your ability to do moderately strenuous activity
over a period of time. It’s a measurement of how
efficiently your heart and lungs work together to supply
oxygen to your body during exertion and exercise. This
fitness component is also called aerobic fitness.
2) Muscular Endurance- Muscular Endurance measures
your fitness level by your ability to hold a particular position
for a sustained period of time or repeat a movement many
times. One example might be to lift a five-pound weight
20 consecutive times.
3)Muscular Strength- The ability to exert maximum force.
It is possible to have greater muscular strength in one area,
than another. For example, you may have great strength in
your arms, while lacking strength in your legs. One example
might be lifting the heaviest weight you can possibly lift.
4)Flexibility- Flexibility fitness measures the ability to move a
joint through its full range of motion or the elasticity of the
muscle. This is how limber you are.
5)Body Composition- This fitness area measures the
proportion of fat in your body as compared to your bone and
muscle. It does not refer to your weight in pounds or your shape.

If you are weak in any area or need to begin a general overall
fitness plan, there are basically three areas of exercise you should
concentrate upon to make improvements. They are stretching,
aerobic activity, and strength training. Each of these areas is very
important to your overall fitness level. Eating a healthy diet will
also contribute greatly to your overall fitness level.

Remember, it is never too late to improve your fitness level.
Regardless of your physical fitness level, your age, or the length
of time it has been since you last exercised regularly, it’s never
too late to start and maintain a good fitness routine. Your body
is designed to move. If you don’t use it, you lose it. It is just
that simple
